We have recently interviewed Tilbea about their exciting, new and bold breastfeeding brand, we thought therefore it would be a great time to put some of their breastfeeding clothes to the test for both nursing and looking and feeling amazing!
Grace Dress – Gold
I am a Tilbea virgin, having watched their brand start up with their bold and fabulous clothes, I haven’t tried one of their stylish looking outfits, until now. The Grace dress is a different style to what I what normally go for, you know when you tend to wear similar styles because you think they suit you? Well this is not my usual style and has made me realise I need to try different more often! I love this style, it is not only so easy for breastfeeding but it is s flattering and gorgeously swishable! As my daughter said “Wow Mummy”
The top of the dress is made from an absolutely lovely, stretchy jersey fabric. There is a front panel on the dress to lift up for nursing which you don’t even notice at all. The bottom of the panel meets the top of the skirt and it is also made from a stretch jersey fabric so fits to your boobs rather than hangs so you absolutely wouldn’t know this was a dress designed for nursing. Underneath the front panel is a cross-over v neckline in the same soft jersey fabric which is again a nice fit, sometimes these sections can be a bit loose but this is a nice fitted wrap front.
The cut around the neckline is flattering and 3/4 sleeves are always good if you prefer keeping your arms more covered.
And as for the skirt, am I in love with the gold chiffon pleats! I have been after a pleated skirt and this one is beautiful, the skirt is fully lined in gold and feels so glamorous. And after just one wearing with kids I luckily realised is totally washable! The Grace dress is also available in black with green skirt opton too.
The weight of the dress is lovely and hangs so well when on. The dress just feels lovely to wear- I really do feel great wearing this dress! I am a size 8 and the small (suitable for 8-10) fits perfectly, the style of the dress works well if you are on the smaller side of the size and also the fabric and stretch of the dress is perfect if you are the top of the size guidelines.
This dress could easily be worn for christenings, weddings, date nights and also for lunch dates with mum friends. This is a dress you won’t want to save, it can equally be worn with a biker jacket and trainers as well as heels and a bit of sparkle!
I would so recommend this dress for making you feel special! It is absolutely brilliant for breastfeeding, the quality and fit are really excellent and you wouldn’t even know it is designed for nursing. Wear it for whenever and whatever occasion you fancy! I will definitely be wearing it whenever I can – it makes me feel pretty damn good! Dare I say it again….I really do love this dress, oh and also my little girl loves it too!
Tilbea are bringing out new Spring and Summer lines in some new bright colours very soon and I can’t wait!
Penelope Polka Dot Dress
As soon as I put the Penelope dress from Tilbea on, I feel a bit special! It is a short sleeved, knee length, wrap dress with a vibrant polka dot print. It features a V neck with underlying modesty panel.
Straight away I noticed the fabric feels lovely. It feels sturdy which sounds odd, but by sturdy I mean the material is high quality and the dress is well put together. I can be guilty of buying cheap and cheerful high street, this feels like another level all together! No flimsy fabric, loose threads or bad stitching here. It’s a viscose/elastane mix, so there’s a nice bit of stretch to the material. It’s a medium thickness, lightweight without being thin. I think this dress could easily take you from one season to the next with a bit of layering.
As to the fit, I am a size 14 and in a Medium here. I am comfortable in this size although perhaps verging on needing to size up. I feel like the dress fits well everywhere, it’s a close fitting but forgiving style. I didn’t actually realise it was a maternity dress as well, there was no awkward baggy material at the tummy as you can get with some multipurpose dresses. I’m 5”6 and the length is just above my knee.
I can definitely breastfeed my baby easily in this dress. The v neck can be pulled down and there is a plain black modesty panel to avoid exposing loads of bosom for those who prefer a discreet feed. You can pull the panel right down and expose next to no skin, I don’t think people would even realise you are nursing! This dress would be fab for tandem feeders, there’s lots of room for both breasts to be out at once.
I love this dress, I feel really cute and a bit quirky wearing it! It’s a very high quality item worth investing in, and is lovely to breastfeed in. It feels too special to wear about the house, so I definitely will be wearing it out this weekend or my next night out!
Matilda Dress – Blue
I adore the bold electric blue hue of this dress! And the leopard print is so sassy. So I wasn’t expecting to feel quite as elegant as when I put the delightful Matilda dress on! Très chic! It’s a midi length, cap sleeve, high-neck dress with a flattering ruched waist. There is a lift up flap for breastfeeding access.
As with the Penelope dress, this feels like a high quality item. Lovely material, well sewn and a quality design. It’s made of a cotton/elastane mix, meaning the fabric is soft and super comfy, with a nice bit of stretch to it. It’s a good thickness, and forgiving of lumpy bits!
I am wearing the Large in this dress, and it’s a great fit for my size 14 figure. It’s not too tight anywhere, it’s a snug but flattering fit due to the cut of the dress. You could definitely fit a moderate bump in this dress (as shown by my mum tum here!) but I don’t think it is designed with a late term bump in mind. I am 5”6 and the length comes to below my knee.
It’s simple to breastfeed in this dress via the lift up panel. You can easily pull the panel material over your boob for a super discreet feed. I don’t tandem but definitely could in this dress, there is ample access room to have both boobs out.
I feel very glamorous and chic in this dress, and would wear it on a fancy evening out. However the funky print and bold colour make it so versatile, I will definitely wear this more casually with trainers and a leather jacket as well. I love this electric blue but this dress is also available in a funky bold orange and red colourway!
Both the Penelope and Matilda dresses are absolutely lovely to wear. If I sound like I’m gushing, I am! Sometimes you just come across clothes that make you feel fabulous when you wear them, and these Tilbea dresses really do!
