Latched is a brand new company run by active mum Natalie, focusing on Nursing Active Wear for mums.
Latched sell sports clothing for mums looking to get active; it doesn’t have to be for running an extreme marathon (see social media!), but to provide mums with comfortable clothing for being active such as taking little ones on walks or being busy at home and importantly being able to breastfeed.
We often see on the Facebook group there is BIG demand for nursing sports bras but there are just not many options available. It is therefore great to be able to try this new sport bra and see if all our prayers have been answered!
Nursing Sports Bra Review
The Latched sports nursing bra is clearly designed for easy breastfeeding with the best design features of a nursing bra. It has very simple clips for drop down nursing access and has an A frame design which also gives extra support and cover to the boob during feeding. Breastfeeding really couldn’t be any easier!
The material is super soft, smooth and very comfortable to wear; it is a lovely, quality fabric. The bra also looks great on with it’s smart print and a very flattering scoop neckline giving a great shape cleavage! It would therefore be ideal for active gym or yoga sessions where you may not wish to wear a tshirt. The sports bra also comes with two removal pads or you could even slip in your own breastpads too.
The back adjuster has several band sizes and it even also comes with an additional band extension if you need it. The shoulder straps are adjustable, they can be used as straight over the shoulder or there is a very clever little design feature in that they can be clipped together for a racerback style. Personally I like a racerback for a sports bra as it just seems to give a bit of extra support.
The band under the boobs is nice and wide so no riding up and boobs slipping out the bottom! I am a size 8 and originally a small was a bit too big worn on the tightest clasps, however the XS was perfect. I would say the sizing is pretty generous so no need to size up.
I suppose the crux of this bra is how it stands up during sport, as a breastfeeding bra it is perfect-super comfy and feels lovely to wear, and very practical for breastfeeding, but how is it for exercise? The last thing you want is to feel your chest moving up and down during exercise and the potential to cause unpleasant aches and pains. This bra is stated as being perfect for low-medium impact activities, which I think is a fair assessment. I tried it out going for a couple of runs so it did have to do a bit of work holding the old GG boobs in place-and it was fine. I would just maybe say that with the scoop neckline it maybe doesn’t have the support of higher neckline sports bras for higher impact sport but for low-medium impact it is spot on.
I am really impressed with this sports bra, it has been really well thought out and has all the best features of a nursing bra, it is well made and in a lovely fabric, it is excellent for active mums and it also looks great which is an added motivator when trying to be more active! It is brilliant that a small business is creating something that is a definite wishlist item for breastfeeding mums and hopefully a bit of a gap in the market place!
Just for info I also tried the high waisted leggings, normally I like a hipster style trouser but I actually really loved the feel and comfort of the high waist design-I am converted! These were lovely thick leggings, again really nice stretchy, soft fabric, lovely and long so no cold ankles and ideal for cold active days.
